What Can I Expect During a Treatment Session?

Free Assessment
The assessment consists of taking brief details of your medical history, lifestyle and background. You will be asked for this information, and there are no questionnaires for you to fill out. You can give an outline of your problem or issue, together with your objective for therapy and what you want to achieve.

Following the assessment you will be given a suggested treatment plan, with information on what how the treatments work, and be invited to continue with a treatment session if time is available, or to make an appointment. You are not obligated to continue with treatment and the assessment remains free. Before any treatments, you will be asked to sign a treatment consent form.

Meridian Tapping Session
During a therapy session you will usually remain seated opposite the Practitioner and will be Tapping on yourself as guided, whilst exploring your issue or problem, to a depth that you are comfortable with. Where it is more appropriate to do so, and with your consent, you may be propped up on a treatment couch, with the Practitioner Tapping on you and this is more suited to the very young, the elderly or those with physical or mental disability.

You may be asked to remove your shoes and remain seated with uncrossed legs. Occasionally you will be asked to work standing up. It is important to sip water throughout the session.

Emotional release is sometimes experienced through crying, but distress is kept to a minimum as Tapping helps relieve feelings safely.

Following a treatment you may feel tired for a few hours, although some feel energised as the weight of their problems is lifted! Be aware of insights and changes that take place subtlety following therapy. Please continue to drink plenty of water over the next day or so. You will also usually be given 'homework' in between sessions and a guide as to how to use Tapping specific to your needs for self-help.

Reiki Treatment Session
During a treatment you will remain fully clothed, lying down with your eyes closed, on a treatment couch with an optional blanket for warmth and comfort! There will usually be relaxing music playing in the background, but you can ask not to have this if you prefer. You will remain in this position until the treatment is complete, but you may ask to discontinue the treatment at anytime if you wish to do so.

Occasionally it may be more appropriate for the client to be given a seated treatment in a chair, to be treated lying on their front or in a different position. Young children and babies may be treated whilst being held by their parent.

The Practitioner will place their hands on or above areas of your head and body, avoiding intimate areas, whilst channeling the healing energy of Reiki. Most people feel very relaxed during a treatment, and experience a variety of physical sensations such as heat or cold, or nothing at all! Your mind may wander off, you may see colours or find your thoughts are directed to something significant.

Following a treatment you may feel relaxed and calm, or occasionally people feel energised and have a heightened awareness. Please drink plenty of water in the following days and be aware that the full benefit of a treatment sometimes takes three or four days to effect.

Combined Sessions
Combined sessions usually consist of a Tapping session followed by a Reiki treatment. Other times it may be more appropriate to use Reiki throughout a Tapping session, or to channel Reiki into acu-points instead of Tapping on them.
